o Soy Indigo is an international band born out of the love and friendship of six musicians based in Prague.

The distinctive musicianship of each member is intertwined and united in the vibrant songs of the exceptional American singer and guitarist Emily Thiel. From deep lyrical expression, through ethnic music, jazz, to a good portion of humor rock and dance songs.

“Freak-folk-jazz” is an appropriate genre classification, but it only scratches the surface of the free-flowing genres that Yo Soy Indigo moves through to beautify this world.

At the head of Yo Soy Indigo is the American singer, guitarist and songwriter Emily Thiel, who possesses a completely unique sensibility. She writes all of Yo Soy Indigo’s songs, and all the colors of her voice, combined with her guitar into one instrument, lead the other musicians in the band. Fredrik Janáček, the Swedish bassist of the legendary band -123min. masterfully weaves the thread that holds the band together even in the most surprising moments. He is joined by renowned, versatile drummer Dušan Černák, whose bold, virtuosic playing breathes life into every song. Mark Newson brings an unmistakable, palpable love and warmth to his keys. The band’s melodic instruments are played by two magnificent musicians: the fiercely expressive Czech actor and musician William Valerián on saxophones, whose musical intuition inspires everyone to play at a higher level. Last but not least, the band is rounded out by the brilliant violinist Adam Pospíšil, with his extraordinary ability to gently express the nuances of the soul with his violin one moment and then completely shred it the next.

The individual players are truly exceptional, but the crystallization of these great musicians in the shared space of Emily Thiel’s music has a distinct power to energize and connect the audience. It’s a collective heartfelt magic that creates an honest, exciting and powerful Yo Soy Indigo experience.
